Book Review: Happy Place by Emily Henry

Rating: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Emily Henry has done it again!! She never fails to deliver fantastic banter and a romance to swoon over. Another fantastic read, perfect for all your summer breaks. Just like her previous novels, Happy Place features an infamous romance trope and this time it is the will-they-won't-they trope of Wyn and Harriet's relationship which is bound to have you hooked from the very beginning. The character building in Emily Henry's previous novels has always struck me, but there is something about the characterisation of Harriet and Wyn that is completely unique. I became attached, immersed and could picture them as a friend of my own. No doubt you will find yourselves cheering them on throughout (I sure did!). However, I think what is so special about this book (and some may not expect me to say this) are some of the messages that you can take away from it. This is not just a sexy romance novel to help you pass the time laying on a sun lounger. This is a book that helps to uncover self-growth, friendships, grief and falling in love. Beautiful writing, beautiful characters and another beautiful book...

About The Book:

Wyn and Harriet are the perfect couple, or at least they were until they broke up six months ago. Worst part of it all: no one knows! Which is exactly how they ended up sharing a bedroom on their yearly getaway with their best friends. For one amazing week, they forgot about their daily lives, eat way too much food and, of course, drink way too much wine. Except this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth and trying to avoid the elephant in the room. But they have to continue to put on a brave face as their annual holiday cottage is for sale. This could be the last year they all spend a summer with each other and the pair cannot bear to break their friends' hearts. Besides after being in love with each other for so many years, how hard can it really be to fake it?
